Home, in transit

Wednesday, April 30th, 2003

Amy and Joe helped me move this evening.

Much thanks to Joe for moving my bed, washer, and dryer. Lots and lots of thanks to Amy for helping me move all the other stuff and helping out in general.

Not all the milk crates have been moved over yet. (:

iTunes music store

Tuesday, April 29th, 2003

The iTunes music store made its debut yesterday alongside the new iTunes 4 release. Having a Mac laptop (in addition to my Linux boxes), I decided to try the thing out. I’m impressed. Apple did a good job with the store, and I ended up buying some music (which I then burned to CDs for my car).

The tracks are in AAC instead of MP3, so it results in higher quality music. Also, many of the songs featured are from high-quality studio recordings and skip going to CD as an intermediate step.

Looplabs is a fun, interactive music beat mixing site. It’s a great use of Flash.

Moving to Cary!

Sunday, April 27th, 2003

I just got a new place in Cary. Not only is it nicer than my current place, it also is cheaper, has more square footage, is in a quiet location, and has both a front yard and back. I can plant a garden. I can get a kitten. I can actually get sleep without neighbors screaming, blasting music and my rest will not be interrupted by riced-out cars blaring down the road right behind me like at my current location.

I will be moving in this next week. I will probably start relocating stuff starting today. Yippie.

Saturday night storm

Sunday, April 27th, 2003

There was a bit of a storm last night, complete with touches of lightning and thunder. It was a while since that has happened around here. Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday of this upcoming week are all slated for more thunderstorms too.

Sickness? What sickness?

Thursday, April 24th, 2003

I’m feeling sooooooo much better today. I’m almost 100% back to feeling fine. One area of discomfort, though, is the pointer finger on my left hand. I burned it today, making leftovers for breakfast. As a result, I can’t type too well without backspacing and retyping a bunch. I’m also left-handed, so it puts a little bit more of a damper on things than if it were on the other hand.

Wow. It appears that Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers is coming to DVD on my birthday, August 26th.
