This morning, I woke up and saw a bright red cardinal in a green, leafy tree. I didn’t have my camera ready to take a picture.

After getting ready, I went out to my car to drive to church. As I got in my car, a hawk came swooping down and landed in the planter in front of my place so I watched it for a while as it sat there in front of my townhome. I left my camera in my bedroom, so I did not have it with me in the car.

Church was great today. There was a guest pastor and he covered the topic of holiness. I ordered a CD. I also got to see Aaron and Jessica again after the service! (They are my friends who are moving back to Vancouver, so it was great to see them again.) Anyway, after talking to Theresa (and getting invited to her birthday party today), I walked to the far end of the parking lot to jump in my car and drive away.

I made my way to the main road outside the building and noticed something in the street. I slowed down and saw that it was a big turtle crossing the road. Like a chicken, I guess it was trying to get to the other side. Anyway, I pulled over to the side of the road (when there was enough shoulder), parked, turned on my flashers, and ran back to try to help out the reptile. I was waving all the oncoming traffic to move around the turtle, and began to try to move it. Every time I made the attempt to pick it up, it would jump and snap its big turtle jaw. Someone named Nina (I think that’s how you spell her name) came to the rescue. She appeared and picked up the fierce turtle with an adept skill of a zoologist (she was even wearing an outfit like one) and we movied the large creature to the nearby field. When we got there, someone with a truck offered to take the turtle (as they already had another) to a safe place.

I did invite Nina to a Thursday night Bible study (as she seems around my age, and there aren’t too many people there in my agre group), but I wasn’t able to take a picture of the turtle. I left my camera at home.

I think the moral of the story is to have my camera ready to take pictures at all times.
