Gallery of the Absurd

Tuesday, May 24th, 2005

Gallery of the Absurd (abbreviated as GOAT, which is absurdly is a transposition of letters in the acronym), direct from the Boston area. It’s funny, as I’ve seen some of the same things Erik Wegweiser points out.

Photos: Tulsa Zoo

Sunday, May 22nd, 2005

A short while ago, I visited my family in Oklahoma. While there, we took a trip to the zoo. The following pictures are a few of the highlights of the place.

Hungry, hungry rhino

It’s not a lawn ornament

Colorful hornbill

Wow! The lion was actually awake!
(They usually like to sleep most of the day)

The elephant, striking a pose

Pachydermian love

Be sure to check out the entire set of photos: Tulsa Zoo (There are monkeys, parrots, penguins, and a giraffe sticking out its tongue among other things…)

New camera bag

Wednesday, May 18th, 2005

Introducing the Crumpler Shrinkle. It’s a wacky name for a camera/laptop combo backpack, but it’s also an unconventional bag. It has some sense of design and style (when it comes to camera bags, at least), and it seems very reliable and feature-packed. Of course, I don’t know any of this first-hand, as mine still hasn’t shipped yet, but this hard-to-find bag from Australia gets glowing reviews (from people who ditched their LowePro Trekkers and other similar bags for this) in many forums.

Just for-what-it’s-worth: I bought mine from Set Shop, a place here in the US who actually stock Crumplers.

Pushing “Paint” to the limits…

It’s amazing — someone used Microsoft Paint to recreate a scene of Venice.

That has to be the most astounding use of MS Paint, ever. (Previous titleholder: Pokey the Penguin.)

The Hitch Hiker’s Guide to the Galaxy was entertaining and funny, despite what a few others may say. I thoroughly enjoyed it this evening — and did not have any complaints except Zaphod’s head-in-the-neck thing instead of being a true second head.

If you haven’t seen it yet, you should. Be sure to sit through the credits long enough to see the last little entry to the H2G2.

Welcome, Ryan!
