Eric Larson, the rock-star co-worker (his band is Ume, which means Japanese plum), is heading back to PA to finish up school. Before he heads out, he’ll be on tour. His first stop is AS220‘s Fancy Fest (a gathering of a bunch of bands) in Providence, RI on Friday night, starting at 7:00 pm.

It should be a great time for anyone who is close enough to attend.

While it’s really cool that your friend is outgoing and confident enough to have his own band, it’s probably a good thing that he is going back to school. The two songs on the website both sound generic musically and horrible vocally. Of course tastes vary so I’m sure some people really like it.

WordPress is free software to set up a weblog on your personal website. It’s based on PHP and loves MySQL, which are my respectively my favorite server-side scripting language and open source database. Garrett uses it. I really wanted to like Wordpres…

Generic musically? Horrible vocally? I saw Ume two nights ago and it was the absolute best new band I’ve seen in at least four months. The entire audience was blown away–people are still talking about it today. Who goes out of their way to write a negative comment about someone who is successful at what they love doing? My only hope is that Eric is not taking a heavy courseload… this country needs musicians.
