Never saw What the Duck before today… A funny photography-centric comic? Totally feed-reader-worthy.

In my quest for a Wii, I tried:

  • pre-ordering at different stores and websites
  • the whole Amazon.com notify-me-by-email thing when their pre-orders started (and they totally dropped the ball by not sending email)
  • waiting in line in the cold for a while
  • visiting a decent number of stores yesterday and this morning

Nothing worked.

I discovered that my brother waited in line at Best Buy at launch time and got one. He and his roomate both bought one, in fact. As they don’t need two in the same place, he was planning on selling his on eBay. I phoned him and asked if he wouldn’t mind selling it to me instead. He was glad to do so.

So, when we meet up for Thanksgiving on Wednesday night, I’ll have my very own Wii! It’ll be two days of great time together with wonderful food, infused with fun Wii action for the entire family. (Wii Sports / Raving Rabbids)

Thanks, bro!

Car alarms… and recent photos!

Monday, November 13th, 2006

Car alarms should time out after a short while, should not sound like loud sci-fi lasers, and should, under no circumstances last from 2:00 am until 3:00 am… especially right outside my window.

Okay, I’m headed back to sleep… but first — while I’m awake and blogging — I might as well be productive. Here are a few photos I posted on Flickr recently:

Firefox themes now on the official Mozilla addons site!

Wednesday, November 8th, 2006

The new Tango theme and all of its derivatives (all updated for Firefox 2.0) are now available on the official Mozilla addons site.

Installing is now easier, and the themes should now auto-update as well. Just click an image below (for the theme you want) and then click on install. You can install any or all of them too (they’re parallel-installable).

Tangerine theme for Firefox Industrial (old GNOME icon theme, basically) theme for Firefox

Also, I’d like to thank all the people in #tango who helped me refine the themes, as well as all the icon designers who made them all possible (many are the same people, and I’m one too). In no particular order (and hopefully I don’t miss too many people *g*): infernux, nico, sgarrity, dobey, tigert, jimmac, andreasn, Novell, and all the rest… (;

Firefox 2.0: Fitting in

Thursday, November 2nd, 2006

Firefox 2.0 has a lot of great features, but if you’re using it on Linux (or BSD, etc.), then odds are that it doesn’t really seem to fit in with the rest of your desktop.

I’ve been working on the new version of the Tango theme for Firefox, making it compatible with Firefox 2.0. I’ve also been implementing subskin support (same overall theme with tweaks, such as other icons) with other people’s help in #tango on IRC.
