My Wii number

Saturday, December 30th, 2006

Since it takes two people entering each other’s Wii numbers to actually make anything work, I’m posting my Wii number here:

4242 5312 6182 8000

If you and I know each other, post a comment — or blog entry on your own blog — with yours. (Of course, you could just email or IM it too.)

Blog Wiidesign!

Saturday, December 30th, 2006

Instead of going for a complete overhaul, I tweaked my blog a bit. It’s similar, yet a little cleaner with the sidebar stuff down at the bottom.

The BIG news is, though, that I added Wii support to my blog. It’s quite useless, as I doubt tons of people will be surfing over to my website using their Wiis, but I figured, “Why not?”

If you want to make your website a little more Wii friendly, just drop the following in your document’s <head></head> area:

    <script type="text/javascript">
      window.onload = function() {
        // Wii detection (for CSS tweaking)
        if (navigator.platform == 'Nintendo Wii') {
          document.body.className += ' ' + 'os-wii';
        }
      }
    </script>

Then, you can go crazy in your stylesheets by adding body.os-wii {} and derivates, like body.os-wii #content { font-size: 18pt; width: 100%; } or body.os-wii #footer { font-size: 16pt; }

This is just my little belated Christmas gift to all you fellow webmonkeying Nintendo nerds. *smile*

(Oh, and feel free to use the above however you want…)

The Wii help cat

Thursday, December 28th, 2006

Jakub pointed me to a page describing the “Wii help cat”.

The Wii help cat is such a crazy cool concept that, upon learing about it, just had to fire up my Wii and poke around the photo channel.

While playing around in the channel, listening to the fun music, I noticed my own cat watching at the screen with a serious, inquisitive stare. Strangely enough, Dusty actually does looks quite a bit like the Wii help cat. My little kitten doesn’t give helpful advice, though. She only asks me to feed her with a little “meow”.

I suppose cats and Nintendo Wii naturally go well together.

That’s the artificial Verizon, which is better than the actual Verizon.

Since when has The Onion started reporting actual, true news?

(Somehow I’m on Verizon’s “Charge-You-At-Whim” plan despite numerous dealings with billing and customer support personnel.)

Winter weather beginnings

Sunday, December 3rd, 2006

For us residents of the Boston metro area (as well as many other parts of New England), the first snowfall of the season is about to begin tonight!

Here’s hoping that the wintery season is quick and mostly harmless this year! We’ve been off to a great start thus far, with all the jacketless days over the past several weeks.
