no GUADEC for me…

Friday, July 4th, 2008

I was intending on going to this year’s GUADEC in Istanbul, Turkey… but, unfortunately, I’ve been having an amazingly horrid apartment experience.  I call it “the flat fiasco”.

A few recent travel photos

Sunday, June 22nd, 2008

As always, I have lots more photos I need to post (and some on Flickr that I haven’t pointed out here), but here are a few photographs to share with you of my travels around the world in the past couple months.

streetcar in Liberec

I visited Jakub in Liberec, CZ

walking in Wrocław

…then went to Wroclaw for LGM

After that, I went to Savannah to visit family, and rode 1/2-way across the USA in a packed van.  (This is a shot from our hotel room in Little Rock, at Sunrise.)

We ended up in Tulsa, Oklahoma, for my cousin’s wedding, and a family reunion. (This picture is from Tulsa, but obviously not the wedding.)

June snow

purple mountains

the cloud hovers over

After getting back to Nürnberg, I went to Munich for the weekend.

Nat, Stephanie, James, and I went hiking around the foothills of the Alps on a Saturday.

…Then we visited Regensburg on Sunday.

Now I’m back in Nürnberg, taking this weekend off from travel (and don’t really have a photo to illustrate this last point).

Hope you enjoyed this little blog post! (You can see more of my photos on Flickr.)

“Uncle Garrett”

I’m an uncle now! (:

(My sister just had her baby.)

A few things I miss…

Sunday, February 3rd, 2008

I’ve been in Germany for two weeks now, and I miss a few things already…

morning flight

First of all, my family and friends back home (of course!). It was great to spend quite a bit of time with my family, and I was able to visit a few friends before the big move. (Hopefully they’ll come to visit in the months ahead…)

Outside of that, I wasn’t able to bring my books, and I’m missing the Wii a little bit too (I’ll need an NTSC-compatible TV)… and… a power adapter for my 750 GB IOmega hard drive… the one that all of my photos are on! (What a thing to forget! Oops!)

Now you know why my flickr page has not been updated recently… (Well, that, and I ought to go out and shoot a few pics.)

So, I apologize for not posting any of my pictures on flickr recently… (:

With that, I’ll end this post with a few of my favorite recently uploaded photos.

affectionate tulips

GNOME Summit 2007

Thursday, October 4th, 2007

I’ll be at the Summit this year.

To spice up this blog post a bit, I’ll post a few pictures taken around the Summit (but not directly from the Summit!) from prior years.

Larry walking down the Stata stairway

Interestingly enough, I don’t think I will be bringing my big camera along this time… just a laptop and my little pocket Lumix.
